Happy Friday, Smarter readers! Not long now until the weekend starts…
This is something funny that Derek of clubduh recently discovered in a 1973 book called “Hi! Come Join us in Canberra—A week in the life of 3 young girls in Canberra. A typist, a stenographer and a secretary”.
Want to remember/imagine life as a secretary in the early 70s?
Wonder no more!
This is actually a book produced by The Australian Public Service to encourage young women to move to Canberra . It’s so adorable to think of life with typewriters, lead pencils, carbon paper and Dictaphones. If you have some time, go and download the full PDF, it’s an hilarious read.
Happy weekend to all our Smarter readers! Here’s to empty inboxes and tidy desks before we say goodbye to the working week.
The girls were models, and the guys real public servants. http://www.canberratimes.com.au/news/local/news/general/model-citizen-found-living-in-the-70s/2227476.aspx One of the women still lives here :)
